Civic Trust Award 2010

Clapham Manor Primary School, Lambeth, London
This extension to the existing primary school is a robust, beautiful and modern building which extends and complements the older school, A dazzling block of polychromatic glass panelled façade has been appended to the original Victorian building. This provided much needed new teaching, staff and support spaces and also cleverly resolves the way users navigate their way around the school. A new staircase and lift core eases access to the school’s various floors providing very good accessibility for all. The new building is exceptional in its quality of design and is stunning both externally and internally.

 

British Home Award 2009 – Affordable Housing Development of the Year.

Yew Trew Lodge, Hillingdon
A two-storey building for 12 residents with learning difficulties fashioned almost entirely from brick (main feature in Architects’ Journal 2nd April 2009 Number 12 Volume 229).

Galston Street, Openshaw, Manchester
For the new build development of 24 houses for Mosscare Housing Limited. One of only 9 Winners of Built in Quality Awards given by Manchester City Council Building Control Officers for outstanding quality selected from more than 2,600 schemes completed throughout Manchester in 2008.

 

RICS East of England Award 2008 – Highly Commended Award in the Community Benefit Category.

Museums & Heritage Show 2008 Permanent Exhibition Award

CPRE Mark (Campaign to Protect Rural England) 2008 for the Walled Garden at Stockwood Park

Stockwood Park Discovery Centre & Museum, Luton
Commissioned by the Museum Services Division of Luton Borough Council, to provide improved public access, circulation and enjoyment of the existing Mossman Carriage Museum and Gardens and affording the opportunity to open up to discovery under utilised area of the site.

 

RICS North West Awards 2008 – Short listed for the Best Residential Project Award.

Broadfield Road, Moss Side
A striking development within the Manchester Urban Renewal Area on the site of the former Broadfield Road Swimming Baths. The Scheme comprised 57 houses and flats for rent, and combines modern innovative design with reuse of stonework salvaged from the former Baths and is set around a New Central Public Square. A landmark feature sculpture adds to this prestigious development.

 

RICS North West Awards 2008 – Short listed for the Best Regeneration Project Award.

The Mere, Bolton
Mixed development of houses, bungalows and 3-4 storey flats. The construction and delivery of 71 new homes for rent to Contour Housing Association, together with 36 new homes for sale for Bardsley Homes Limited.

North Regional Structural Awards 2007 – Award for the ‘Best Sustainable Project

Murrays’ Mills Major Repairs Project, Manchester
Appleyard & Trew’s involvement as Quantity Surveyors in the major shell repair of Murrays' Mills for Ancoats Buildings Preservation Trust (now Heritage Works Preservation Trust), was successfully completed in Summer 2006. The project was nominated for several categories.

 

Best Community or Partnership Initiative Award in 2006

East Acton Town Square, London Borough of Ealing
Awarded by London Planning Awards for the £1.2 million redevelopment in Ealing to create a new Public Square.

 

East Midlands RIBA Awards 2005 – Principle Award

The Attenborough Nature Reserve Visitor Centre
The nature reserve visitor centre is built on stilts above the flood level of the River Trent and accessed by a footbridge. The principles of sustainable construction were utilised on every aspect of the building resulting in a very energy efficient building with a light environmental touch.

 

East Midlands RIBA Awards 2005 – Principle Award

Sacrista Prebend, Southwell
The project comprised a high quality refurbishment of a semi-derelict house and derelict outbuildings to provide new residential accommodation and a chapel to a community of nuns within the grounds of Sacrista Prebend, the official residence of the Dean of Southwell Minster.

 

Conservation Award

St.Georges Centre, Netherfield
A purpose built community resource and meeting facility in a deprived area of Nottingham constructed to provide maximum energy efficiency and to form a focal point on a corner site in the Netherfield area.
